In 2009, Louie processed 72 crime scenes and submitted 293 latent fingerprints. Of the 293 latent prints, 210 were deemed to be "of value" and from those, 22 suspects were identified. These numbers are unmatched by any non-CSI member within this department. In January 2009, Louie assisted detective Kim Eveker with a sexual battery investigation. The suspect only spoke Spanish and Louie was able to facilitate a full confession from the suspect through his compassionate and empathetic listening skills. Louie is a certified breath test operator and has assisted members in the course of dui investigations. Louie continually goes out of his way to assist other members of this department whether it's assisting with a traffic homicide investigation, dui investigation, crime scene processing, Spanish translation, or working special events. Louie is an accomplished disk jockey and has contributed his talents and equipment for the F.O.P. Picnic and Special Olympics car show. Louie has the heart of a true volunteer and is always the first one to clear and take a complex call or direct traffic in the rain. Louie's service, dedication, and professionalism bring great credit to the police department and to the city of Coral Springs. It is for this reason; Louie Guzman is Civilian of the Year for 2009.
