At the November 3 City Commission meeting, City Manager Erdal Dönmez announced that Communications and Marketing Director Christine Verdi will become the interim Deputy City Manager. The position will be advertised and filled through a competitive search over the next several months.
“I am pleased to bring Christine’s skill set to this position. Our focus on customer service and our ongoing dialogue with the community requires constant and effective communication of our strategic priorities, Business Plan and vision for the long-term financial success of the City,” Dönmez said.
“I look forward to working with Erdal and [Deputy City Manager] Ellen Liston on those initiatives that are most important to our customers, and to collaborating with the City’s partner organizations on community outreach efforts and marketing for economic development,” Verdi said.
The City’s Communications and Marketing Department, which is a division of the City Manager’s Office, has supported a number of business-focused initiatives including the CSBizAssist program with the Economic Development Foundation and Buy Coral Springs with the Coral Springs Chamber of Commerce. Verdi, who will also participate in the competitive process to permanently fill the position, will continue her responsibilities as the Director of Communications and Marketing.
Prior to joining the City of Coral Springs in April 2008, Verdi was the Director of Client and Investor Communications at Denver-based Janus Capital Group, where she supervised an in-house communications agency responsible for all shareholder, advisor and institutional investor communications. Prior to Janus, she was Vice President of Editorial Services at integrated marketing firm HNW Inc. in New York, where she directed the communications strategy for numerous financial clients targeting the high-net-worth audience. She has held positions as a Senior Editor in Time Inc.’s Strategic Communications division and as Editorial Director at Forbes Custom Media. Verdi holds a Master of Fine Arts from New York University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Loyola University of Chicago.
