Coral Springs City Manager Erdal Dönmez announced this week that Josephine Chavez, CRM, has been appointed the new City Clerk. The position was advertised and filled through a competitive search.
Chavez has been the City’s Records Manager since 1999 and has served as the Interim City Clerk for the past two months. During her 11-year tenure with the City, she also served as Acting City Clerk for extended periods of time.
“Jo has been able to step up and capably manage the City Clerk functions during a very busy time for the City. She completed an extremely competitive interview process and proved to be the strongest candidate for the position. I look forward to working with her well into the future,” Dönmez said.
“I am looking forward to continuing the tradition of excellent service to the City in my new role as City Clerk and contributing to the extraordinary standards this City has always maintained,” Chavez said.
Prior to joining the City of Coral Springs in 1999, Chavez was the Records Administrator for the Department of Health in Colorado where she designed and implemented a central record center for a division of approximately 150 employees. Prior to that, she was the Records Administrator and Corporate Archivist for Manville Corporation, and also implemented a record retrieval system for Patent, Licensing and Trademark law records. Chavez has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Regis University in Denver, Colorado and has been a Certified Records Manager since July 2005.
