December 20, 2010 Pedestrian Killed Crossing Roadway
 
A Coral Springs resident was killed today as he was attempting to cross University Drive.
 
Preliminary investigation shows that around 11:41 a.m. Emil Angel, 69, of Coral Springs was attempting to cross University Drive at the intersection of Ramblewood Drive. As he entered the intersection he was struck by a 1995 Toyota, 4 door being driven by Joshua Amill, 15, of Tamarac. Amill was attempting to turn south on University Drive from westbound Ramblewood Drive. After striking Angel, Amill fled the scene. Amill and his two passengers, Juan Calderon, 15, of Tamarac and John Gomez, 15, of Coral Springs, as well as the vehicle were located by police at 9469 Atlantic Blvd (Coral Square Mall).  
 
Angel was air lifted to North Broward Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
 
Amill was driving the vehicle with no valid driver’s license.
 
The crash is still under investigation and anyone with information is urged to contact Officer Eric Schuster of the Coral Springs Police Department Traffic Unit at 954-346-1247.
