At a special meeting on Tuesday, December 21, the Coral Springs City Commission unanimously appointed John Hearn as the new City Attorney. The Commission was presented a negotiated contract at the January 4, 2011, City Commission meeting.
“I think the transition for you coming onboard will be seamless. I feel very confident that we didn’t have to look any further than our own backyard to find someone that could fill his [Sam Goren’s] shoes,” Commissioner Vince Boccard said.
“Having you [Hearn] and Erdal here elevates the feeling of safety at this table. Thank you for saying yes,” Vice Mayor Claudette Bruck said.
“I want to congratulate John. I think he’s going to make a very good City Attorney and I’m looking forward to working with him,” City Manager Erdal Dönmez said.
Hearn has served Coral Springs as deputy city attorney for 10 years. Prior to that, Hearn served as the City’s Assistant City Attorney for eight years. Hearn graduated from The George Washington University as a Juris Doctor and he has a bachelors degree from the University of Notre Dame.
"I am excited about this opportunity and look forward to continue working with the Commission and City staff in serving the City and its residents," Hearn said.
