Coral Springs- Shortly before 10 a.m. this morning, the Coral Springs Fire Department responded to a report of a male who had fallen inside of a water storage tank. The male, a subcontractor working on a Coral Springs Improvement District tank, was working on a ladder inside of the tank. At some point during his inspection, he lost his footing and fell about ten to fifteen feet onto the bottom of the tank.
The height of the outside wall of the tank was approximately thirty feet tall. The BSO Fire Rescue Technical Rescue Team was called to the scene to assist in removing the patient from the tank. The BSOFR TRT Team is specially trained and equipped to handle this type of situation. Coral Springs Firefighter/Paramedics tended to the patients injuries while inside of the tank and then assisted BSOFR in packaging the patient into the rescue basket.
Once packaged, the patient was hoisted over the top of the wall and onto an awaiting stretcher. The patient was taken to North Broward Medical Center for evaluation by the trauma team. The patient’s injuries appeared to be non-life-threatening.
