Coral Springs- On Wednesday March 16th, 2011 at about 1:15 p.m. the Coral Springs Fire Department received a 911 call reporting an airboat crash. The caller informed us that several people were injured. Multiple units were dispatched to the scene to investigate.
When units arrived they were informed that the patients were located further away from the area where vehicles could access them. Several members of the Coral Springs Fire Department boarded a private airboat where they were taken closer to the crash site. All of the patients were eventually brought to the staging area for treatment by other airboats.
Two Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office Deputies were treated on the scene and transported to Delray Medical Center. A third patient, a civilian, was treated and released on the scene. One deputy was transported by BSO Air Rescue in serious condition and the other was transported by a ground unit with minor injuries.
The cause of the crash is being investigated by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC).
