Coral Springs- On Sunday March 20th, 2011 at 2:56 p.m., Coral Springs Firefighters were called to the scene of an apartment fire at 9257 Ramblewood Drive. When fire crews arrived they found heavy smoke coming from a window to the rear of the building. They deployed hoses to the front door and quickly got the fire under control within a few minutes.
Even though the fire was quickly contained, the damage had already been done. Most of the common areas of the apartment were heavily damaged by fire. Other areas of the unit were moderately damaged by smoke.
Investigators believe the fire was accidental in nature and may have been caused by an electrical short. Further investigation will determine the exact cause of the fire.
The Broward County Chapter of The American Red Cross will assist the family with temporary housing needs.
