Coral Springs- On Monday March 21st, 2011 at about 2:15 p.m., the Coral Springs Fire Department received a 911 call reporting a fire at 2585 NW 99th Avenue. When fire crews arrived they found smoke coming from the front door of the home.
The fire was found in a laundry room, which was located by the front door of the condo. The fire was contained to the laundry room and smoke damage to the rest of the home was kept to a minimum.
While firefighters searched the home for people who may have been trapped inside by the smoke, people outside told them that two cats were still in the home. A search of several rooms found the two cats hiding under a bed. Both cats were taken outside and oxygen was administered to them. Both cats were reunited with the owners with no apparent injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No firefighter or civilian injuries were reported.
