Lifesaving Commendation – Officers Paul Reid, Jonathan Banke and Tyler Reik
In November of 2010, Officers’ Reid, Banke and Reik responded to a residence in reference to a 911 hang-up. Officers advised dispatch to call inside, and they were told they were getting a fax machine. Officers then tried looking into windows of the residence, when they observed people in the living room area near the floor. Officers then made contact with residents inside who were crying and pointing towards a room near the front of the house advising, "She's dead." When Officers’ Reid, Banke, and Reik went into the room they observed a young paraplegic girl who was not breathing and unresponsive. Officers’ Reid, Banke and Reik started CPR and within a few minutes were able to get the child to start responding by moving her eyes and mouth and became more stable by the time CSFD rescue arrived. It is because of these officers thorough follow-up on the 911 hang-up and immediate action to perform CPR that they were able to help save the life of the child.
