In July of 2010, Officer Byrne was on routine patrol in the area of Windsor Bay when she observed a male walking between houses. Officer Byrne continued to survey the subject until Officer Murray arrived; she then retreated to a position out of sight, as to not compromise the investigation. Officer Murray then used a combination of static and mobile surveillance as the male walked between and behind two residences. Eventually both officers made contact with the male after he was seen entering the rear patio of a residence. Officer Byrne used excellent interviewing techniques with the male, whom made several contradictory statements. This successful interview led to the development or the elements or a loitering and prowling arrest. At the same time, unknown to the officers, CSI personnel were matching latent prints recovered from the previous week's burglary. The subject was taken into custody.
