Fire Academy offers part-time minimum standards fire courses

The Coral Springs Fire Training Academy is offering a part-time Minimum Fire Standards Course available starting on Saturday, November 12. This 500-hour course runs for approximately six months, and meets Tuesday and Thursday nights from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m., one Friday night a month from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Cost is $2,450 for the course and other fees apply. Deadline to register is November 4, 2011. This course is a mentally, physically, and emotionally challenging program that includes extensive classroom and practical elements.

Applications are available at, under Applications. Interested participants must read and understand the requirements before submitting an application. Registration is accepted on a first come, first served basis. Bunker gear may be rented for the entire duration of the class.

The Physical Agility Test (PAT) is available on Friday, October 21 at 5 p.m. Please note that all medical exams must be completed at MedExpress Urgent Care, located at 1809 N. University Drive, Coral Springs.
