The City of Coral Springs is encouraging residents to participate in the Prescription Drug Discount Card Program offered by Broward County. The program, offered in partnership with the National Association of Counties (NACo), was launched by Broward County to help provide residents with relief from the high cost of prescription medications. The card is free and may be used by all residents, regardless or age, income or existing health coverage at any participating retail pharmacy. A national network of more than 59,000 participating retail pharmacies will honor the NACo prescription discount card, including most chain pharmacies and many independents. Cards can be picked up free of charge at the following City locations:
Sartory Hall at Mullins Park located at 10000 NW 29th Street
City Hall - Citizens Services located at 9551 W Sample Road
City Hall at Coral Square Mall located at 9239 W Atlantic Blvd.
You may also print a card at the Caremark website here: http://www2.caremark.com/naco/.
There is no enrollment form, no membership fee and no restriction or limits on frequency of use. Cardholders and their families may use the card any time their prescriptions are not covered by insurance. The cardholder pays the negotiated discount price or the pharmacy's retail price, whichever is lower.
Residents are also reminded that they may use the card to offset the high cost of prescription medications for their pets, as well. If your pet has been prescribed a medication that is also used to treat a human condition, such as Benadryl, you may receive a discount on the medication by taking the prescription to a participating retail pharmacy. There are approximately 360 pharmacies in Broward County that accept the NaCo Prescription Discount Card, including: CVS, Public Target, Walmart and Walgreens.
