Members of the newly formed Coral Springs Police Burglary Enforcement And Reduction (B.E.A.R) Task Force were involved in the arrest of three individuals on 1/31/12 after officers witnessed them commit a vehicle burglary. This is the second occurrence in two weeks where members of the B.E.A.R Task Force apprehended subjects during an in-progress burglary.
An alert K-9 officer initially observed a suspicious vehicle. Members of the B.E.A.R. Task Force immediately responded and observed the vehicle enter several parking lots before stopping at a local post office. Officers witnessed two of the suspects exit the vehicle and one suspect smashed the window of a BMW and a woman’s purse was removed. Officers immediately moved in and apprehended the suspects and recovered the stolen purse.
The newly formed B.E.A.R. Task Force was created in an effort to address the issue of burglaries in Coral Springs. The task force is comprised of hand-selected, highly dedicated officers whose primary goal is the reduction of burglaries through proactive and innovative methods.
The Coral Springs Police urge the public not to leave valuables unattended in their vehicle, and to “Make a Call, Make a Difference,” and immediately report any suspicious activity by calling the Coral Springs Police Department at 954-344-1800.
