March 14, 2012 City Manager Names New Police Chief of Coral Springs
 
After the completion of a nationwide recruitment search, City Manager Erdal Donmez named Deputy Police Chief Tony Pustizzi as the City's new Chief of Police.
Chief Pustizzi began his career with the Coral Springs Police Department in 1988. He served as a patrol officer until 1993, at which time he transferred to the Criminal Investigations Unit as a detective. Chief Pustizzi was promoted to the rank of sergeant in 1995. During his tenure as sergeant, he served as supervisor to a wide variety of units within the agency including the Patrol Component, the Field Training Program, and Criminal Investigations. He was promoted to the rank of captain in 2002 and served as the Criminal Investigations Unit Commander, which included the General and Special Investigations Unit, Youth Liaison Unit, Crime Scene Investigations, and the Vice, Intelligence and Narcotics Unit. In 2005, he was promoted to deputy chief of police overseeing the Operations Division.  From 2007-2010, Chief Pustizzi oversaw the Administration Division. From 2010-2012, Chief Pustizzi was in charge of the Operations Division, which includes the Patrol Component, Criminal Investigations Component, Special Operations Component, the Traffic Unit, and the Humane Unit. Additionally, Chief Pustizzi was selected to the Special Response Team in 1990 and was named commander of the Special Response Team in 1997, where he served until 2005.
Chief Pustizzi earned his B.A. Degree in Criminology from the University of Florida and went on to earn his Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Florida Atlantic University. Additionally, Chief Pustizzi is a graduate of Southern Police Institute Command Officers Course, the F.A.U. Criminal Justice Executive Leaders Course, the FBI National Academy #221 session and the FBI LEEDS #64 (Law Enforcement Executive Development Course). He currently serves as a State Vice President for the Florida Chapter of the FBI National Academy. Chief Pustizzi is also an active member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, Florida Police Chiefs Association, Broward County Chiefs of Police Association, FBINA Associates, FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association, and the International Counter-Terrorism Officers Association.
Chief Pustizzi will be honored by City Manager Erdal Donmez during a badge pinning ceremony on Friday, March 16, 2012, at 9:00 a.m. at the Coral Springs Police Department.
“I am extremely proud of the three hundred men and woman of this police department. I am honored to be given the opportunity to be the chief of police and leader of such a tremendously hardworking department,” said Chief Pustizzi.
