Coral Springs police arrested a Chili’s employee on April 30, 2012, after she was found in possession of an illegal credit card scanner.
Loss prevention from Chili’s, located at 1650 University Drive received several complaints from customers about fraudulent activity on their credit cards between February and April 2012. Loss prevention was able to determine it was one of their waitresses, Germithe Geffrard, 23, of Pompano Beach that was responsible for the fraudulent activity. When Coral Springs police arrived at Chili’s they found Geffrard to be possession of an illegal credit card scanning device located in her work apron.
Geffrard would take the customer’s credit card to the resister and use it properly to charge their bill. After charging their bill she would scan the card through the illegal scanner, which would store the credit card information. Geffrard would scan at least three or more credit cards a day.
Geffrard was arrested and charged with possession of a scanning device.
