During 2011, TAG members fielded daily requests for assistance from other units while maintaining an outstanding level of self-initiated activity, cultivating street level informants, self-initiating internal unit investigations and working with other jurisdictions. As a result of their street-level efforts, over 300 grams of Marijuana as well as notable quantities of MDMA, Oxycodone, Xanax, Crack Cocaine, Mushrooms, Adderall and Vicodin were seized by the Unit. The Unit also developed and implemented a new “Gang Form” agency-wide to better track and document gang members in our community. In addition to the duties within their Unit, the Officers within TAG all held secondary responsibilities such as Special Response Team Members and Department Training Instructors. As a team, their skills, dedication, flexibility, drive and overall work product was unparalleled within the police department during 2011 thus making them worthy of the Unit of the Year designation.
