As the primary trainer for the agency’s K-9 Unit, Scott has established himself as a dedicated team member and self-starter who is constantly focused on improving the overall quality provided by members of the K-9 Unit. Scott served as the primary instructor for a K-9 Handler Certification Course held at CSPD (400 hours). Scott assisted in the selection process, established the training schedule, provided recommendations for coverage on the road, conducted training and ensured both the new handler and K-9 (Ofc. Jomant and K-9 Bandit) progressed at an acceptable level. Scott’s quality training resulted in FDLE and NAPWDA certifications for this new K-9 Team on the 1st attempt. During 2011, Scott and K-9 Mik were responsible for seizing over 1,000 grams of marijuana, 148 MDMA pills and significant quantities of cocaine and other illegal narcotics (Xanax and Oxycodone). The team also assisted in 20 Felony apprehensions and the seizure of 21 vehicles and over $3,000 in currency.
