While on Patrol Officer Alfin observed suspicious activity within an apartment complex parking lot that caused him to conduct surveillance on a vehicle. When the vehicle began to leave Officer Alfin initiated a traffic stop as the driver was not wearing his seatbelt. Upon making contact with the driver Officer Alfin smelled an overwhelming odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. The driver admitted to having narcotics inside the vehicle with the intent to sell. 651.12 Grams of Marijuana were seized from the vehicle as well as $1,974 in cash. It was also determined that the suspect was already on felony probation for selling and manufacturing narcotics. Officer Alfin’s keen observation skills and noteworthy police work have earned him the Exceptional Police Initiative Commendation.
