Upon receiving information that a purse was stolen from a car within the parking lot of a Tamarac Community Park, Officer Byrne took the initiative to covertly conduct surveillance at the Turtle Run Park. In less than an hour Officer Byrne observed a vehicle enter the park parking lot, make a slow loop through the parking lot and then exit without making contact with anyone. Officer Byrne proceeded to make a traffic stop several blocks from the park. The occupants matched the descriptions of those reported to have stolen the purse from the parking lot in Tamarac. Additionally, the driver was in possession of gloves and a pair of scissors, both items commonly used in burglaries. Upon requesting assistance from Detectives and a K9 Unit, the suspects were all identified as known criminals and 148 Ecstasy Pills were discovered in a hidden compartment within the vehicle. The vehicle was seized for forfeiture and the suspects were arrested for drug trafficking, loitering and prowling, possession of burglary tools and several traffic violations.
