Sergeant Myers took the initiative to review a number of open robbery and theft cases. While reviewing the cases he noticed a number of relational factors such as day of the week, approximate time of day, point of origination and suspect tattoos. Through additional research he became aware that the same suspect was being sought for robberies in Sunrise and Plantation. Based on this information, Sergeant Myers organized a group of officers to canvass the mall and Visconti apartment complex at times relative to when previous incidents had been committed by the suspect. During the canvass of the mall one of the previous victims noticed the suspect appearing to be preparing to commit another robbery or theft. The victim notified Sgt. Myers allowing for a swift apprehension. As a result of Sergeant Myers initiative two robbery cases and one theft case was successfully cleared.
