The Galleria at Fort Lauderdale presented Coral Springs Museum of Art Executive Director Barbara O’Keefe with its “Lifetime Achievement” Award at its “Spring for the Arts” fundraiser on May 31, 2012.
O’Keefe received the award for her ongoing support of the arts. As executive director of the Coral Springs Museum of Art since its inception, O’Keefe has been dedicated to the advancement and education of the arts throughout South Florida. Under her direction, programming has grown to multiple class offerings in Art Classes in an Art Museum, Artist in Residence Program, Sculpture Garden, Family FunDays, professional artist workshops, Master Classes, and most recently the Saturday Chautauqua Series. In September of 2006, the Museum opened 3,500 square feet of new classroom space including a dedicated clay studio with 10 potter’s wheels to meet the continuing growth and need for educational art classes for adults and children.
O’Keefe has been with the Coral Springs Museum of Art since its opening exhibition in February 1997. Over the years, it has exhibited national, international and Florida artists, served 2,500 students annually in a variety of art classes, developed programs for senior and minority youth and much more.
