All landlords who lease any residential rental unit within the City of Coral Springs are required to register the property.
On October 4, 2011, the City of Coral Springs created a Landlord Registration Program as part of the City’s Neighborhood Preservation Program. The initial program addressed strictly multi-family units. On October 16, 2012, the City Commission expanded the program to include single family properties citywide. The registration provides the City with a current, accurate database of rental properties. The rental property database can be utilized to contact property owners or designated agent in case of safety violations or in case of an emergency.
Starting January 1, 2013 an annual fee of $56 per property is required. In addition to the Landlord Registration, the neighborhood preservation inspection fee of $79 will continue for rental buildings with two (2), three (3) or four (4) rental units.
Landlords may apply by filling out forms at the Business Tax Office at City Hall. The application includes information such as the landlord’s name and emergency contact information. If the owner resides outside of the tri- county area, the registration must include contact information for a property manager or local agent. Landlords of single family properties are required to complete the self-inspection checklist along with the application. To read the ordinance in its entirety and to download forms visit www.CoralSprings.org/code.
The registration program is active January 1 through December 31 of each year. Properties not registered by March 1, 2013 will be subject to a $25 late fee along with possible administrative costs if taken to a Special Magistrate Hearing.
