The City Commission has approved the City of Coral Springs Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ended September 30, 2012.
The CAFR contains the City’s complete financial statements and other financial information. All of the statements are audited by an independent certified public accountant and provide the public with the confidence that all financial reporting is accurate, open and transparent. The CAFR also contains information about the local economy, the structure of the City government, the City’s future financial plans, the City’s financial policies, and significant projects.
Coral Springs has once again received an unqualified opinion from the independent auditors. An unqualified opinion is given when the auditor concludes that the Financial Statements prepared by City staff provide an accurate assessment of the City’s financial position.
“The completion of the CAFR, and the receipt of an unqualified opinion, is a testament to the City’s financial procedures and our talented, dedicated staff. This report provides us with the opportunity to celebrate another fiscal year that has concluded with an opinion that recognizes accuracy and integrity” said Melissa Heller, Director of Financial Services.
The GFOA, Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada, awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to Coral Springs for its CAFR for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2011. This was the 33rd consecutive year that the City has received this prestigious award. The 2012 CAFR will also be submitted for this award.
