Detective Koenig was assigned an armed robbery with a firearm case in which the victim’s phone and wallet were stolen at gun point. In the weeks following the incident Detective Koenig obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect and requested the assistance of the US Marshall Fugitive Task Force. While waiting to execute the warrant, at 2:00 AM on June 1st, Detective Koenig was contacted and advised that, a baby and two friends were kidnapped by the suspect in Broward County at gunpoint. The kidnapped victims were left in Port Saint Lucie by the suspect, with the exception of the baby, who was still with the suspect. The victims stated the suspect advised he was going to kill the baby. Detective Koenig contacted the Broward Sheriff’s Office as they were also working the case. Detective Koenig used his extensive knowledge of the suspect and the suspect’s acquaintances to assist BSO and US Marshalls in apprehending the subject later the same day.
