While on routine patrol, Officer Coupe observed a Hummer and GMC stopped on the east side of the 5500 block of North State Road 7. He then observed two males physically fighting in the grass just east of the turn lane. While approaching the situation tactically he observed a third male exit from the GMC, bleeding from the head, who approached the two men fighting with a handgun, pointing at one of the combatants. Officer Coupe immediately drew on the suspect, causing him to drop the weapon. He then kept all suspects at gun point until back-up arrived. Upon further investigation, a loaded .45 caliber pistol was also found in plain view on the front seat of the Hummer. It was determined that what Officer Coupe witnessed was a continuation of a road-rage incident that began at Creek Side and State Road 7. He not only diffused the situation and prevented a shooting but also coordinated the complex investigation and arrests that followed.
