The City of Coral Springs has contracted a new trash hauler, Waste Pro, to collect all household garbage, recyclables, yard waste and bulk items in the City starting January 1, 2014.
Green carts will be for trash and blue carts for recyclables. Trash will be picked up twice a week, recyclables once a week, and bins will be raised on hydraulic lifts and emptied, rather than manual pick up.
Garbage collection days will remain the same, with a possible change in the recycling pick up day. Bulk trash and yard waste will be reduced to once a week at curbside on your first garbage pick-up of the week, with a six cubic yard limit per pick up (approximately the size of three refrigerators). All household garbage and recyclables must fit inside the designated cart. Otherwise, residents must wait until the next regular pick-up day to dispose of the extra waste. Residents may request an additional cart for a one-time charge of $75.
Waste Pro will be operating brand new collection vehicles that have zero emissions and are more environmentally friendly. In addition, Waste Pro is transitioning a majority of their fleet to compressed natural gas over the coming years.
Waste Pro is one of this country’s fastest growing privately owned waste, and recycling collection companies, operating in eight southeastern states. For more information, please call 954-282-6800 or visit CoralSprings.org/wastepro.
