These department members are being recognized for their outstanding contribution as members of the Sergeant’s Exam Committee. Under the direction of Deputy Chief Montagna the Committee met on several occasions to collaborate on enhancing the existing testing procedure and implementing new aspects that would offer greater transparency for test takers and provide more factual information for Chief Pustizzi to consider when selecting candidates for promotion. The committee first identified improvements that could be made to the existing Written Exam portion of the testing process to include refinement of the testing materials and the inclusion of a meaningful police management textbook widely accepted as containing information valuable to incoming supervisory candidates. They then sourced a number of vendors to provide an audio-visual scenario based test as a new, second step of the process. The first testing process to include the Committee’s enhancements was completed on March 9, 2013 with six applicants qualifying for promotional consideration by Chief Pustizzi. This committee was tasked with improving and enhancing a key function of our agency. All members took the task seriously and dedicated themselves to improving the promotional process for future candidates. It is for this reason they are being awarded the Administrative Services Commendation.
