On June 23rd Officer Greear responded to a report of burglary at a local apartment complex where a suspect was attempting to make entry into the coin hopper of the laundry room washing machines. When the suspect realized that there was a surveillance camera in the room, he removed the camera but not before his picture was captured. Coming to the end of her shift, Officer Greear communicated a description of the suspect as well as his potential vehicle to Officer Plesher, her counterpart in the same district. Officer Plesher immediately went to the area where the suspect was last known to be. He quickly located a vehicle matching the description provided by Officer Greear. While investigating the vehicle he noticed a subject matching the description provided by Officer Greear approaching him. Officer Plesher arrested the suspect at which time he made a statement admitting to using the machines in an illegal manner and then stealing the surveillance camera. While both Officers made an excellent effort in locating this suspect, Officer Plesher’s diligence in quickly following up on information provided to him by his fellow officer left little time for the suspect to change his clothing or leave the area. It was this expediency and keen observation that resulted in the apprehension of a criminal. It is for this reason Officer Plesher is being awarded an Exceptional Police Initiative Commendation.
