On March 9th a residential burglary occurred in which three cell phones and a laptop computer was stolen. On March 11th, Officer Faiola contacted a street informant that revealed a male by the name of “Sam” in her neighborhood by was attempting to sell cellular phones. Contact was made with the suspect and the suspect admitted to committing the burglary with an additional individual by the name of “Tom”. A consent search of the additional suspect’s home ensued, revealing a second cell phone attributed to the initial burglary. The suspect further admitting to selling the laptop and provided officers with the name and location of the business where he sold the computer. The suspect advised he was able to sell the laptop without completing any paperwork and that the business is known by those in the neighborhood to buy items from burglaries with no questions asked. Armed with this information Officers conductive two undercover operations at the named business and were able to successfully sell both a “stolen” cell phone and a “stolen” laptop computer. Based on the undercover operations a search warrant was issued on March 19th for the business for dealing in stolen property. As a result of the excellent police work of Officer Faiola, a residential burglary was cleared and two subjects were arrested. As a result of the two search warrants on the business in question three additional felony arrests were made and a business identified as dealing in stolen property within our city was closed. It is for this reason Officer Faiola is awarded the Exceptional Police Initiative Commendation.
