On May 3rd while off-duty and in his personal vehicle visiting friends in the Kensington Green Complex, Officer Schroy observed a hand-to-hand drug transaction occur in front of him. He observed one subject return to a residence and the other subject leave the complex in a vehicle. Officer Schroy followed the vehicle out of the complex and notified dispatch of his observations by phone. He continued to follow the vehicle back to the registered owner’s residence. An on-duty TAG Detective responded to the area and initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle in question when it attempted to leave the area a short time later. The driver and a sole occupant were placed under arrest after investigation revealed they were in possession of 28 grams of cannabis. Officer Schroy’s alertness while off-duty is to be commended. His keen observation skills at a time where he was not working resulted in the arrest of a drug dealer and the removal of narcotics from our community. It is for this reason Officer Schroy has earned the Exceptional Police Initiative Commendation.
