On March 14th of this year, eleven golf carts were taken from the Heron Bay TPC Golf Course. Ten of the eleven carts were found abandoned at various holes on the golf course, one of which was found partially submerged in a lake. At the time of the report one cart remained missing. When Sgt. DeRosa reported to work the next day, he took it upon himself to review the Hot Sheet and obtain details regarding the event that led him to locate the eleventh missing golf cart at a local Wal-Mart.
TAI DeVita took the initiative to respond to Wal-Mart in order to obtain video footage from that evening in hopes of identifying the suspects. TAI DeVita was able to recover the video footage which she then passed on to Crime Scene Investigations members to further process the video. Images of the suspects were produced by CSI and passed on to detectives. Shortly thereafter both suspects were positively identified.
Sgt. DeRosa’s diligence in reviewing the Hot Sheet from the previous day paired with TAI DeVita’s initiative led to the recovery and return of an expensive piece of equipment to its rightful owner and the identification of two burglars. It is for these reasons that Sgt. DeRosa and TAI DeVita are being awarded the Exceptional Support Initiative Commendation.
