In early 2013 Detective Hosler, as well as Officer Monzon, who was working on his own personal time, conducted covert surveillance of a suspected narcotics dealer. Based on the findings of their surveillance the pair stopped the suspect, leading to the seizure of MDMA and Cocaine. Rather than simply making the arrest and closing the investigation, the pair built a rapport with the suspect, ultimately engaging a Vice, Intelligence and Narcotics detective to work with the suspect as a Confidential Informant.
From January to May of 2013, as a result of information provided by this informant, four successful search warrants were generated within our city resulting in four felony arrests and the seizure of 443 grams of Marijuana, 47 grams of Cocaine, 18 grams of MDMA, 3 Oxycodone pills, a stolen 40 caliber handgun and nearly $7,000 in cash. Detective Hosler and Officer Monzon’s self-initiated actions and keen investigatory skills resulted in improving the safety of our community. It is for these reasons that they are both being awarded an Exceptional Police Initiative Commendation.
