History of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration

In 1991, a group of clergy representatives requested that the City consider hosting a memorial event to honor their fellow clergyman, Dr. King. The City Commission responded very favorably to this idea, and a group of community volunteers took on this challenge. Each year, this event draws an increasing number of attendees from Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. The festivities appeal to every segment of the population, from students to families, seniors to business professionals.
