Captain DePalma began his career with the Coral Springs Police Department in 1986. Captain Depalma served as a Patrol Officer until 1992, at which time he was transferred to the Youth Liaison Unit and served a School Resource Officer until 1995. Captain DePalma was then assigned as a Detective in the Vice, Intelligence and Narcotics Unit until 2006 when he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and assigned to Patrol. As a Sergeant, he was also assigned to the Youth Liaison Unit and Community Involvement Unit until he was promoted to the rank of Captain in 2009. He is currently in charge of the Criminal Investigations Component and is also the Commander of the Special Response Team.
Captain DePalma graduated from Carthage College with a B.A Degree in Criminal Justice. He is a graduate of the Florida Criminal Justice Executive Institute-Leadership Academy, and a graduate of the Senior Management Institute, sponsored by the Police Executive Research Forum. Captain DePalma is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Broward County Chiefs of Police Association, the National Tactical Officers Association and the Florida SWAT Association.
