On June 1, 2001 at approximately 7:00 AM, the Coral Springs Police were dispatched to a traffic crash at the 5200 block of North Springs Way. Upon arrival officers found that a 1993 Ford Ranger struck a tree at 5244 North Springs Way.

A 1993 Ford Ranger driven by Eric Coquelin, age 21, of Coral Springs was southbound on North Springs Way at the 5200 block when the vehicle left the roadway and struck two trees coming to rest against the second tree. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
