ARRESTS MADE IN HOME INVASION ROBBERY

Coral Springs Police have arrested two men in connection with the home invasion robbery of a local jewelry storeowner. Ivan Ramirez, age 22, of 2360 NW 95 Avenue and Johnnie Baquero, age 20, of 2562 Coral Springs Drive were arrested on one count each of Home Invasion Robbery.

On May 21, 2001 at around 10:00 PM, Scott Hertz of Hertz Jewelers heard a knock at the door of his residence and answered it. Two Hispanic men with a gun forced their way into his home and tied him up. When the two went into another room, Mr. Hertz was able to free himself and run to a neighbor's house for help.

Ramirez was arrested on Wednesday, June 21, 2001, by Coral Springs detectives at 46th Street and Sterling Road in Hollywood. On Friday, June 22, 2001, Baquero was arrested by Coral Springs Police at the 2200 block of Coral Ridge Drive. Both were arrested without incident and are being held at Broward County Jail with no bond.
