Residential and commercial alarm systems must be registered with the Police Department. Initial registration fee is $25. There is no charge for the first two false alarms; for the third response, the fee is $50; the fourth response is $100, and the fifth response is $200. Annual renewal is automatic at no charge, if there were no false alarms during the previous year. If false alarms did occur, a $25 renewal fee will be charged.
Questions, complaints or concerns about animals may be reported to the City’s Humane Officers. Pets are not allowed in City parks with the exception of Dr. Paul’s Pet Care Center Dog Park, a recreation facility designed for dogs, located at the Sportsplex. Animal owners who fail to remove their pet’s waste from the property of others are subject to a $125 fine plus $5 surcharge. Dogs must be on a leash when outside and must have a current license. Dog licenses are renewed yearly at your local veterinarian or at the Pompano Animal Control Center (a copy of immunization records is required).

Bicycles must be registered with the Police Department in case of loss or theft.
To register your bike, bring it to the Public Safety Building weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. You may also register your bicycle at City Hall in the Mall, located in the Coral Square Mall. During the school year, bikes may also be registered through school resource officers. Unregistered bikes found or turned in to the Police Department are held for 60 days and photos are taken for viewing at the Public Safety Building to help identify missing bicycles.
Bike paths must be used when provided. For use after dark, bicycles must have a white headlight and a red rear reflector. Bike paths on public streets are maintained by the Public Works Streets Division.

The Broward County Mass Transit Division provides area bus transportation. Fares are $1 per one-bus, one-way ride for adults or 50 cents for senior, disabled or youth riders. Teen Contract is a service provided by the Police Department to help prevent unauthorized house parties when parents are away. A contract between parent and child is drawn up which prohibits any open house parties. The parent then authorizes the Police Department to check on the house to ensure that the contract is being honored. The contract must be filled out in the presence of an authorized member of the Police Department and submitted five days before the parents’ departure date.

American Red Cross classes are offered periodically by the Aquatic Services Department at one of the City's three public pools. Lifeguard Training is designed for ages 15 and up, and Water Safety Instructor classes are for ages 17 and up.
It is illegal for any person to dump any materials on any property, either publicly or privately owned, unless the person has the written consent of the property owner. Fines for littering depend on the weight of the litter and range from $50 to $500.

The City’s Tree Memorial Program allows family or friends to dedicate a tree in memory of a loved one. The City has a list of trees that can be provided at cost and will install the tree within a City park, on a space available basis. In addition, the family or friends can supply a plaque to be placed at the base of the tree. City staff will install the plaque in the ground, which must be metal, 5” by 7” or 4” by 6”, bronze in color, and must be provided by the person dedicating the tree.
Residents should be aware of Coral Springs ordinances regarding the use of
mini-motorcycles before purchasing one. Go-peds are not legal to ride on the street or any sidewalk. The only place a person can ride a go-ped is on private property. The Coral Springs Police Department has and will continue to enforce the
regulations pertaining to go-peds.
Mosquito spraying is provided by Broward County Mosquito Control.
The Multi-Cultural Advisory Committee is active in promoting and developing activities to increase cultural awareness in the community.

Take a walk on the wild side of Coral Springs by enjoying a tour of Sandy Ridge Sanctuary, Kiwanis Park, Cypress Hammock or Fern Glen Park. Each site features a wide variety of plants and trees native to the South Florida area. Group tours are available at no charge.
Participants in this program assist law enforcement officers in detecting crime by becoming the “eyes and ears” of their neighborhoods.
The Neighborhood Partnership Program promotes and strengthens the stability, development, revitalization and preservation of the City’s neighborhoods through community-based problem-solving, neighborhood-oriented services and public/private cooperation. There is a matching grant program available and neighborhood involvement is encouraged through block parties. City staff is available to meet with neighborhood residents in a private home or, for larger groups, in a public facility.
Noisy equipment (i.e., landscaping) is not permitted in Coral Springs before 7 a.m. and after 8 p.m. on weekdays, nor before 9 a.m. and after 8 p.m. on weekends. Construction noise is only permitted between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. on weekdays, and between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. on weekends. Outdoor musical entertainment is not permitted between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. After office hours, call the Police Department at 954-344-1800 to report a possible violation.

A no-fee approval is required before painting exterior trim and walls and may be obtained by bringing paint samples for review to Community Development. There are a wide variety of approved main, secondary and trim colors available, which must be compatible with the roof.
If you get a Coral Springs parking citation, you should follow the instructions on the citation. You may pay the fine by mailing the amount in the mailer envelope provided or by visiting any Broward County Courthouse (see Courthouses).

Commercial and recreational vehicles may not be parked in residential areas between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Monday to Saturday and all day Sunday. Restricted vehicles include commercial vans and trucks, motorhomes, campers, boats, trailers, utility and off-road vehicles. Exceptions are made for:
- Vehicles parked in a garage or carport, providing the carport screens the vehicle from view on three sides utilizing a wall, fence or hedge at least four feet in height
- Vehicles owned by a physically handicapped person and marked with an appropriate disabled sticker
- Vans or trucks weighing less than 5,000 lbs. with no commercial lettering, used only for private passengers

This highly participatory program sponsored by the Coral Springs Police Department is for men and women, ages 16-21, who have an interest in law enforcement and basic police work. Explorers learn professional police skills such as communications and first aid from police officers who act as mentors.
Residents can hire police officers for off-shift security or traffic details. The fee is $26 per hour, per officer. Call the Special Detail Office for a permit.

Curbside Program (Provided by Waste Management)
In single-family and duplex homes, residents use a round green container for aluminum and steel cans; milk cartons and juice cartons; clear, green and brown glass; plastics coded 1, 2, and 3; corrugated cardboard (flattened and no larger than 3’X 3') and newspapers. Newspapers and cardboard must be placed on top of the container. Newspapers may also be placed in brown paper bags.
Cart Program (Provided by Waste Management)
Residents in multi-family complexes use blue recycling carts: one labeled newspapers, the other for clear, brown, and green glass, aluminum and steel cans, plastic bottles coded 1, 2, and 3, milk and juice cartons. Cardboard is not collected in the cart program.
Drop-off Program
Recyclable materials may be dropped off at the Waste Transfer Station.

In addition to the materials identified in curbside and cart programs, a
separate container is available for magazines and cereal boxes. Two forms

Safe place is a temporary refuge for troubled teens. Adolescents going through a crisis at home or school can get in contact with free, confidential and professional help. All seven fire stations in Coral Springs and Parkland are designated and marked with Safe Place signs.
Some 1,600 kindergartners “graduate” each year from Safety Town, the City’s comprehensive safety program. Children are taught pedestrian, stranger, fire, water, bicycle, traffic and emergency/911 safety basics. For information about the Summer Kiwanis Program, call 954-344-1811.
