The Tennis Center of Coral Springs hosted a Team Tennis and Seafood Extravaganza on Saturday, Sept. 18. Rescheduled after Hurricane Frances and just before Hurricane Jeanne, 24 teams compedted on teams of six players each. Each team was comprised of a mixed doubles, men’s doubles and women’s doubles participants. After two hours of heated tennis, the participants feasted on a menue of grilled salmon, mussels, clams, linguine and more.

Using a Davis Cup format, each team represented a country. The winning team represented Tasmania. Captained by Perry Patterson, team members included Beth Patterson, Jim and Tatiana Fischer, Roy Starr and Donna Samet. Tasmania defeated Australia for the championship. Australia was led by Captain Bryan Mayo, with team members Marion Serphos, Michelle Takenaka, Don Claffey, Christine Saita, and Hernan Maggi. The two other participating teams represented Korea and Equador, captained by Kewhee Lee and Adnan Jamei, respectively.
