Debra Thomas, City Clerk for the City of Coral Springs, has more than 28 years of municipal government experience. In 2011, Thomas joined Coral Springs as the first-ever Coral Springs Assistant City Clerk and was promoted to serve as City Clerk in 2014.
In her current role, Thomas managed over 16 municipal election cycles, including special elections. She is responsible for fulfilling public records requests and ensuring the public is properly notified about public meetings, as well as ways to access those meetings, through published public notices.
Prior to joining Coral Springs, Thomas worked for 18 years in the Office of the City Clerk in Margate. Her achievements and advancements in her field have led her to her becoming a Certified Municipal Clerk, designated through the International Institute of Municipal Clerks.
Always willing to share her knowledge, Thomas currently serves as a mentor to other Florida Municipal Clerks through the Florida Association of City Clerks (FACC). Previously, she served as Director of Records and Information Services and on the committees for the Broward Municipal Clerk Association and Florida Association of City Clerks (FACC). Thomas served on the Board of the Broward Municipal Clerk Association, Florida Records Management Association and ARMA Local Chapter.
