Captain Scott Myers, Criminal Investigations

Captain Scott Myers oversees the Criminal Investigations Component for the Coral Springs Police Department (CSPD). This component includes the Crimes Against Persons Unit, the Special Victims Unit, the Economic Crimes Unit, the General Investigations Unit, the Crime Scene Unit, the Victim Advocates and the Crime Analysts.

Captain Myers started his career with the Coral Springs Police Department (CSPD) in 1998 as a Patrol Officer and has held several leadership positions since joining. From 2006 through 2008, Myers worked as a property crimes detective and investigated cases that included grand theft, burglary, and fraud. In 2008, Myers transitioned into the Crimes Against Persons Unit and his primary role was investigating violent crimes including robberies, aggravated batteries, and death investigations (homicide, suicide, etc.). During his tenure as a detective, he was a member of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and assisted in tracking and apprehending fugitives throughout the South-East United States. Myers was privileged to work on several high-profile cases including the Surya Toha homicide, which was later highlighted as an episode of “See No Evil” and “Calls from the Inside.”

In 2010, Myers was promoted to Sergeant and spent four years supervising patrol officers on both days and nights. From 2014 through 2017, Myers was the Sergeant in charge of CSPD’s General Investigations Unit. In this role, Myers supervised 12 detectives, 2 crime analysts and two part-time investigators. Myers supervised the Crimes Against Persons unit from 2017 to 2019 and was also on the FBI Violent Crimes/Fugitive Task Force. In 2019, Myers was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant where he was a shift commander for two years.

During his tenure with CSPD, Captain Myers was a member of the Special Weapons and Tactics Team from 2000-2020. He has received one Meritorious Service award, five Lifesaving Commendations, eight Exceptional Police Initiative Commendations, four Team Citations, three Administrative Service Awards, and the Operations Unit of the Year award in 2016 and 2020. In 2022, Myers received training in Israel focusing on antisemitism and global terrorism.

Prior to his service with Coral Springs, he was a Reserve Police Officer for the University of Florida Police Department from 1994-1996.

Captain Myers holds a Master of Business Administration degree and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, both from the University of Florida.
