The first of the five public art installations, The Temple of Time, constructed by world-renowned artist, David Best, his 24-person, “Temple Crew,” with almost 1,000 members of the Coral Springs and Parkland communities, officially opened to the community on February 14, 2019. The temporary, 35-foot wooden structure, remains open to the community through May 19, 2019, when it will be burned in a ceremonial fire, under the careful coordination of the Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department and Coral Springs Police Department. (The temple will close at 5 p.m. on May 19 to allow Fire Rescue to secure the structure).

As with all temples created by artist, David Best, it is a place to reflect and leave behind difficult feelings and emotions. Traditionally, the temples built by Best are burned within two weeks, but The Temple of Time has remained open for three months to allow for as many visitors as possible.

This Power of Art project is made possible by a grant from Bloomberg Philanthropies. In late 2018, the City of Coral Springs in partnership with the City of Parkland and Coral Springs Museum of Art were awarded a $1 million as a result of their Public Art Challenge.

It is built on the former City Hall site in Coral Springs on 9551 West Sample Road.

Traffic Advisory: To ensure the safety of those in attendance, Sample Road will be closed in both east and west bound directions from Coral Hills Drive to University Drive from approximately 5-10 p.m. Parking is available in the City Hall garage and accessible via University Drive using NW 31st Court.
