This traditional Flag Day ceremony will include the ceremonial retirement and burning of frayed, tattered or faded flags.
All residents of Coral Springs and surrounding communities are invited to bring their torn, tattered, faded, or otherwise worn American flags to the Coral Springs Gymnasium, 2501 Coral Springs Drive, located just north of Royal Palm Boulevard. For more information call 954-345-2200.
Flags will be collected and stored there until the Flag Day disposal ceremony. Please join us in demonstrating respect for our nation's flag -- the symbol of "the land of the free and the home of the brave ."
Tips to maintain your flag
A) Dry Clean. The flag can be dry cleaned.
B) Repair. Minor repairs to the flag are easily fixable by the seamstress at your local dry cleaners.
C) Rotation. When the displayed flag begins to show signs of wear, replace it while it is being cleaned or repaired.
D) Remove and Replace. Have a replacement flag on hand so that when a flag is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, it can be retired and replaced.
E) Retirement and Disposal. The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be brought to the Coral Springs Gymnasium to be properly disposed of in a dignified way.
