Coral Springs, FL – Frank Babinec, City Manager for the City of Coral Springs, recently received the Credentialed Manager designation from ICMA, the International City/County Management Association. Babinec is one of over 1,300 local government management professionals currently credentialed through the ICMA Voluntary Credentialing program. 

ICMA’s mission is to advance professional local government through leadership, management, innovation, and ethics and by increasing the proficiency of appointed chief administrative officers, assistant administrators, and other employees who serve local governments and regional entities around the world. The organization’s 13,000 members in 27 countries also include educators, students, and other local government employees. 

To receive the prestigious ICMA credential, a member must have significant experience as a senior management executive in local government; have earned a degree, preferably in public administration or a related field; and demonstrated a commitment to high standards of integrity and to lifelong learning and professional development.

Regarding his designation, City Manager Frank Babinec said, “Throughout my career in public service I have been committed to improving, to better serve the Coral Springs community. Lifelong learning is important for local government professionals to better create and sustain thriving communities. I committed to continued professional development and obtaining this credential is an achievement I am very proud of and honored to receive.” 

Babinec has proudly served the City of Coral Springs for the last 28 years and was selected to serve as the City Manager in December of 2019. Prior to that selection, Babinec served as the Chief of the Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department from February of 2014 to December of 2019. The City of Coral Springs has approximately 800 full-time employees, who serve more than 132,000 residents as a full-service governmental organization.  

Babinec holds a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership and earned an MBA in Public Administration. He is an active member of ICMA and the Broward City Managers’ Association.
