Vice Mayor Lou Cimaglia was elected as Commissioner of Coral Springs in November 2014. He has been a longtime resident of Broward County and a resident of Coral Springs since 1992.
Over the years, Cimaglia has served various communities thru the Optimist Club, the Community Relations Council of Broward Health Coral Springs and the Knights of Columbus. He is also actively involved in distributing wheelchairs to those in need throughout South Florida. Within the City of Coral Springs, he has previously served on the Coral Springs 50th Anniversary Committee, as well as the Customer Involved Government Committee.
Cimaglia joined the Army Reserves right after high school and was discharged in 1964. Due to his service, he is very involved with local Veterans. Commissioner Cimaglia was a founding member of the Veteran’s Coalition of Coral Springs in 2013. He was the founder and chairman of the effort to bring the Vietnam Memorial Moving Wall to Coral Springs, which took place in October 2015. Cimaglia was honored in 2015 by the Florida Panthers in their “Heroes Among Us” program.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island, Cimaglia is the proud father of four children: Susan, Louis IV, Sharon and Jodi. He also has an active Real Estate Broker License.
