While the City continues making steps toward a more sustainable future, let’s not forget that the most important steps can be taken from you at home.
First and foremost, educate yourself. Educating yourself to understand the issues will help you decipher what is fact versus fiction. There are various non-partisan resources, websites, reports and stories about Climate Change. Here are a few links to get you started:
NASA Global Climate Change: Vital Signs of the Planet
The U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP)
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
Climate Monitor TV
While the issues we face may seem larger than one can handle, there are several steps you can be taking to ensure we move toward a more sustainable future. Get involved at the local, state or federal level through volunteering, attending public meetings, run for office or contact your representative.
At the City, you can volunteer to sit on a Board or Committee, contact our Volunteer Services hotline, participate in the Keep Coral Springs Beautiful Program, partner with the Sawgrass Nature Center and Wildlife Hospital or check out the Volunteer Match for categories of your interest.
No time to volunteer?
Check out the United Nation’s Lazy Person’s guide to Saving the World for things you can do at home or work that range from easy to more involved. Love to garden or be outdoors? Create a Wildlife Garden. Spread awareness on social media or start a blog. Join the global movement for good.
Be the change!
