Mike started with the Coral Springs – Parkland Fire Department in 1989 as a fire explorer and then a volunteer firefighter in 1993. Mike left Coral Springs – Parkland Fire Department in 2000 to pursue a career in Public Safety with Coconut Creek as a law enforcement officer and firefighter. Mike returned to Coral Springs in March of 2004 as a Lieutenant.
Mike has been an instructor at the Coral Springs Fire Academy since 2002 and was has been involved in teaching minimum standards fire fighter, driver engineer, technical rescue and leadership development training at the fire academy. Mike was promoted to Battalion Chief in 2009 and was assigned to "B" Shift operations.
During this time, Mike assisted with the development of the Department's Officer Development Program and has been program administrator since 2009. Mike was then promoted to Chief of Training in 2011 and took over the day to day operations of the Coral Springs Fire Academy. Mike received his Chief Training Officer Designation from Center for Public Safety Excellence in Aug 2013.Mike then received his Chief Fire Officer Designation through the Center for Public Safety Excellence in July 2014.
Through Mike's career both through fire, police and communications, he has always been involved with training and development of new courses. Mike is also a Rescue Squad Officer with FEMA Urban Search and Rescue Florida Task Force 2. On March 1st of 2014, Mike was promoted to Deputy Chief in charge of Professional Standards and Training.
