To address our fast-growing diversity needs, Coral Springs is proud to have taken the lead in Broward County, Florida by adopting priority areas in 1995, one of which was Respect for Religious/Ethnic Diversity. Advisory Committees were formed for each priority area made up of volunteers, headed up by a Commission liaison and staff member.
The City of Coral Springs prides itself on being an “All-Inclusive Community.” The City Commission has always been very supportive of events and programs that develop appreciation for each other’s cultures.
Coral Springs is now self-proclaimed as “A Family-Friendly Community.” The Committee chose to focus attention in the areas described below:
- Broward County Family Success Center
- Clergy Coalition and Interfaith Programs
- Diversity Training Programs in Schools
- ESOL Classes (English for Speakers of Other Languages)
- Multi-Cultural Advisory Committee
- Multi-Cultural Community Events
- Preserving Peace in our Community
Another very valuable facet of our community’s diversity is provided by the Coral Springs Martin Luther King, Jr. Committee, which is also made up of volunteers dedicated to honoring the life and works of Dr. King and preserving his legacy.
This committee was established in 1991 and will be celebrating its 27th Anniversary in January 2018. It has developed various programs and events over the years to perpetuate the dream of this great civil rights leader.
