As part of the Coral Springs Police Department’s Safe Driving Teen Initiative, students who are currently enrolled as seniors at a Coral Springs high school can receive recognition for driving safely throughout the school year. Young drivers who have not received a traffic or “at fault” citation throughout the school year will be presented with both a certificate and a cord to wear during their graduation ceremony.
In order to participate, both an application and copy of the student’s driver’s license must be submitted to their school resource officer no later than April 30, 2020
Teen Driving Safely
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), it is estimated that nearly 6,000 people were killed on our nation’s roadways last year and more than 440,000 were injured as a result of distracted driving. It is clear that the dangers of texting while driving are serious. A life is more precious than taking a call or responding to a text message.
The men and women of the Coral Springs Police are committed to keeping you and your family safe. If you find yourself reaching for your cell phone while driving, take a second to think about the dangers you are putting yourself and others in before you pick up the phone. Ask yourself, is it really worth it?
