Stephen A. Calder - Fort Lauderdale Real Estate Expert
Calder was a Fort Lauderdale real estate guru since the 1920’s. Calder’s expertise would prove to be invaluable to Coral Ridge Properties while building in Fort Lauderdale. In 1966 Coral Ridge Properties was purchased by Westinghouse. Subsequently, this is also when Stephen Calder severed ties with Coral Ridge Properties to pursue other interests.
Though his contribution to the City of Coral Springs was minimal by comparison Calder went on to make his dent in South Florida history by creating the Calder Race Industry. Building the Calder Race Course and two Jai Alai Frontons. Stephen A. Calder died at 77 years old in 1977, he suffered from a heart attack 23 days prior to his death. The Calder course was sold just after his death for $23 million.
